Well folks, we have reached the end of my Finals Prep 101 Series. Never fear, this one post is probably the most important – it’s about food. All jokes aside, when you’re studying it is absolutely imperative that you help your brain recharge with study snacks in addition to water. I’m a firm believer of letting yourself (properly) indulge while studying (I’ll go into that towards the end of this post). Enough chit chat, here are my favorite study snacks.
- Celery and peanut butter
- Cucumber Slices
- Carrots and humus
- Regular potato chips
- Pringles (have y’all had the pizza flavored ones? They’re magnificent)
- Chocolate chips and potato chips
- Hard boiled eggs
- Nuts (I love walnuts!)
- Individual servings of Peanut Butter (Example: Jiffy To-Go)
- Bean salsa and chips
- Sour Patch Kids (Yes, I have a 1.9 lb bag and no, I don’t feel bad about it)
- Milk Chocolate
While it’s important to incorporate healthy, protein rich snacks into your study regime, I don’t think that you have to heavily restrain yourself from eating some chips or a candy bar. In my social psychology class, I learned about this topic called ‘ego depletion’ which basically means that our self-control is a limited resource that gets depleted when we practice self-control. This resource can be replenished over time. So while studying, I think it is most important to center your self-control on studying for your exams rather than on restraining yourself from eating something sweet.
